Project: Motion Partners with Verizon HopeLine for Cell Phone Drive
Collected phones will go to victims of domestic violence

Memphis, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2011) – As part of Project: Motion’s continuing dedication to community involvement, the company is partnering with Verizon HopeLine to host a cell phone drive during the run of AXIS, Feb. 18-20. Audience members who bring in a used cell phone will get $5 off their ticket price (valid for any performance). Phones collected during the drive will be given to victims of domestic violence, refurbished and resold with the funds going to HopeLine, or disposed of in an environmentally-sound way under a zero landfill policy.

The cell phone drive is in conjunction with a work in the show, which features Project: Motion dancers performing while taking live calls from the audience. Choreographed by guest artist Judith Tribo Wombwell, the piece is an excerpt from a longer work titled “The Road.”

Deadfall Dance and Peter Carpenter are also appearing as guest artists for AXIS 2011, Feb. 18-20, 2011 at The Evergreen Theatre. Tickets are currently on sale.
